Climate security reframes climate services for society security providing relevant information from EO data analysis.
The concept of Climate Security has become a global interest topic in the last decades. Extreme weather events are becoming frequent across the world and the associated impacts are becoming increasingly important for safety and security of citizens and societies.
The value of spaceborne data to tackle climate-related security risks has been recognized worldwide, now considering not only data from meteorological satellites, but also the capabilities provided by EO imagery. Such data enable the research towards the link between climate change and security, combining climate data with socio-economic data, so offering in this way an individual value-added solution for the customer.
MEEO is proposing new products (Flood Risk & Impact Assessment Tool) to address both citizens and experts in GEO Space and Security Community Activity members, reaching also non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in sensitive geographical areas that are most exposed to climate events.
